Office of Public Affairs

The Office of Public Affairs advances the goals, objectives and priorities of the university through professional communication, government relations services and by promoting awareness and collaboration among communications staff in university units and affiliates. The office is headed by Tim Caboni, vice chancellor for public affairs, and consists of the following units:

Strategic Communications
Strategic Communications is responsible for executive-level communications, issues management and scanning, ensuring consistency in messaging across the university, social media strategy, and coordinating communications with external partners.

Government Relations
Government Relations manages relationships and information-sharing with legislators and government officials.

Marketing Communications
Marketing Communications is KU's advertising and public relations agency, specializing in brand management and strategic communications.

News and Media Relations
News & Media Relations informs the public of KU’s role as one of the country’s most highly regarded research universities.

Event Management and Protocol
The Office of Event Management and Protocol introduces KU to the public in a friendly and welcoming way.​

KU Communicators
KU Communicators are communications practitioners embedded in units, schools and departments across the university.

Kansas Public Radio and Audio-Reader
Kansas Public Radio includes towers and listeners across Kansas and northwest Missouri. ​Audio-Reader is a free reading and information service for blind, visually impaired and print-disabled individuals in Kansas and western Missouri.
